Abstract :
Democratic country like Malaysia, practices election for five year terms to elect their leaders. Malaysia adopted the government of parliamentary system led by a Prime Minister and cabinet members from a multi-party political members in the Parliament. The people is free to choose and determine their representative in the parliament. Sociological approach, party identification and rational choice approaches can influence the behavior of voters as suggested by researchers. It is thus important for a political party, the voters and the ‘think-tank’ team of the political party to know the voters perception of what might influence their choices of voting before the election. The outcome of the survey may in hope enlighten the voters especially the advising political team to make appropriate strategies in gaining the voters trust, hence votes. This survey is one of the ways to gather voters’ perceptions of the current issues and to relate it to the confidence of voters to vote certain election party. This survey seeks the perception of voters on four segments that is on current issues, election issues, Malaysia leader’s issues and state issues. Out of six factors that might tarnish the image of Barisan National (BN), four played a significant role on the image. However, only three out of six National Key Result Area (NKRA), made an impact to increase the voters support to BN.
