The impact of vaginal septum on mode of delivery: A case report

The development of the female genital tract is a complex process that depends on a series of events involving cell differentiation, migration, fusion, and canalization. Failure of any of these processes leads to congenital abnormalities. The vaginal septum is one such congenital anomaly that is a sequel to the inability of the vaginal canalization process in the embryonic period. The proximal two-thirds of the vagina is formed from the fusion of the Mullerian duct, while the distal third originates from the urogenital sinus. Transverse vaginal septum and longitudinal vaginal septum are some of the abnormalities that can arise from disruption of this process. In this case series, there are three cases with vaginal septum abnormalities in pregnant women, in this case series, we present three cases of vaginal septum abnormalities in pregnant women, including two cases of longitudinal vaginal septum and one case of transverse vaginal septum, each with different delivery methods.
