Abstract
A study was undertaken of the liquid suction rate and properties characterising the porous structure of 10 specimens prepared from a typical wall tile composition and fired using two different firing cycles. The experimental results satisfactorily fit a previously derived equation relating the suction coefficient to certain physical properties of the liquid (density, viscosity, and surface tension) and to the properties characterising the solidʹs porous structure (effective suction porosity, average pore radius, and average tortuosity factor).
