Abstract :
PURPOE: To decribe the role of ultraound biomicrocopy in the detection and localization of foreign bodie in anterior ocular egment foreign body after trauma.
METHOD: In a propective tudy, ultraound biomicrocopy wa performed in five eye of five conecutive patient with upected anterior ocular egment foreign body.
REULT: In all five eye, ultraound biomicrocopy detected and preciely localized mall foreign bodie (metallic in two eye, tone in one eye, platic in one eye, and ceramic in one eye) in the cornea (one eye), uperficial clera (one eye), and anterior ocular egment (three eye). Operative procedure to remove the intraocular foreign bodie (three cae) were guided by the ultraound biomicrocopy information.
CONCLUION: Ultraound biomicrocopy i a noninvaive method for detecting anterior egment intraocular foreign bodie after perforating trauma. It can be ued to accurately diagnoe foreign bodie and ait in urgical management, particularly when direct viualization i obcured becaue of the trauma. In eye with partial-thickne corneocleral laceration or ealed full-thickne corneocleral laceration and upected anterior ocular egment foreign body, ultraound biomicrocopy i a afe and effective method for detecting and localizing foreign bodie in the anterior ocular egment.
