Abstract :
Purpoe
To preent the ue of automated lamellar therapeutic keratoplaty (ALTK) for the treatment of pot-photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) corneal carring and thinning with ignificant reidual myopia.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A patient with high myopia of -12 diopter previouly underwent PRK that reulted in corneal carring, myopic regreion, moderate lo of bet-corrected viual acuity, a reidual refractive error of −6.50/−1.00 × 175 degree, and a remaining corneal thickne of 300 μm. ALTK wa firt performed to remove the car and to augment corneal thickne, and a ubequent laer-aited in-itu keratomileui (LAIK) procedure wa performed to correct the reidual myopia.
Reult
ALTK effectively removed the corneal car and augmented the corneal thickne to 639 μm. LAIK effectively treated the reidual myopia, reulting in an unaided viual acuity of 20/25 and a table refractive error of plano/−0.50 × 40 degree. The ALTK interface remained clear throughout the follow-up period of 26 month.
Concluion
ALTK may be a reaonable alternative to conventional penetrating keratoplaty in the treatment of pot-PRK corneal carring and thinning, with a moderate lo of bet-corrected viual acuity, and LAIK can be ubequently performed to correct the reidual refractive error and achieve an excellent refractive and viual outcome.
