Ultratructure of internal limiting membrane in myopic foveochii

Purpoe To reveal the pathogenei of myopic foveochii (MF). Deign Clinicopathological report. Method Internal limiting membrane (ILM) were collected from ten patient with MF and five patient with idiopathic macular hole (IMH) a a control. ample were ubjected to tranmiion electron microcopic tudy. Characteritic of the ILM were compared between the two group. Reult Collagen fiber and cell debri were identified on the inner urface of ILM in even eye (70%) with MF, ignificantly more (P < .05) than found in IMH ubject (0%). More fibrou glial cell were likely to be found on the inner urface of ILM. No ignificant difference in fibroblat-like cell adheion wa oberved. Concluion Collagen fiber and cellular component are uggeted to play an important role in developing MF. ILM peeling may be eential for vitrectomy for MF.
