Abstract :
The temporal evolution of the plane interface between two ideal semi-infinite plasmas is considered by means of one-dimensional Riemann solver for the MHD equations. Using two-dimensional Riemann solver for the MHD eq- uations, the time evolution of the rectangular perturbed interface is investigated. It is shown that in the presence of magnetic field, the perturbation vanishes gradually but in the absence of magnetic field the perturbation grows simi- lar to a mushroom instability such as Rayliegh-Taylor and Richtmyer-Meshkov instabilities in fluids.
