Abstract
Seeds of Dendrocalamus strictus stored in combinations of different seed moisture content (2.8, 4.7, 6.3 and 8.9%) and storage temperatures (5 and -5°C), in airtight containers, exhibited no loss of viability but the germination was not uniform throughout three years of study. The germination capacity of seeds became vigorous during months of hot rainy season i.e., around July-August and declined during winter months i.e., November-February, possibly regulated by endogenous rhythm. The rhythm was more pronounced and conspicuous in terms of mean germination time as compared to germination per cent.
