Abstract :
The present case study was carried out in Bhubaneswar, Odisha to study the impact of organized food retail chain on visit of customers towards traditional retail outlet. Primary data were collected from 60 traditional retailers through personal interview method using a specially designed pre- tested schedule during September 2011 to October 2011. Different factor affecting the visit of customers were business hour per day, size of the store, experience in trade and presence of organized food retail outlet near the traditional retail shop. It was found that business hour per day, size of the store, experience in trade in years had positive impact on trade. Whereas presence of organized food retail outlet near the traditional retail outlet had negative effect on the number of customer visiting traditional retail outlet. It had negative impact on the visit of customers to traditional retail outlets both on a week day and on a week end as the ‘Z’ value was found to be negatively significant.
