Abstract :
TheobjectiveoftheEUROCORE(EuropeanGroupforAnalysisofCoriumRecoveryConcepts)ConcertedActionistoobtainaclearviewofthestate-of-the-artformeltstabilisationasconsideredinaccidentmanagementschemesandtobetteridentifyResearchandDevelopment(R&D)needs.Fivedifferentmeltstabilisationconceptshavebeendiscussed:in-vesselretentionwithexternalcooling,core-concreteinteractionwithtopcooling,ex-vesselspreadingwithtopflooding,waterinjectionbybottomflooding,andcrucibleconceptwithsacrificialmaterial.Foreachconcept,mainunresolvedproblemsarediscussedinthispaperandrecommendedR&Dactionsareoutlined.Theprojectstartedon1March2000andendedon28February2002.
