Abstract :
Inthiswork,asimplifiedestimationformulaforplasticlimitloadofdefect-freeweldedpipingbranchjunctionssubjectedtotheinternalpressureisestablished.Therelationshiptakesintoaccounttheeffectoftheinternalforcesbetweentherunandbranchpipearoundtheintersectingline.Theformulaisbuiltonthefollowingprocess:First,anequationbetweenthelimitloadandinternalforceofbranchpipesurroundingtheintersectionisderivedonthebasisoftheforceequilibriumcondition.Secondly,regardingthisinternalforceasanexternalforceactingontheintersectionofrunpipe,theapproximatesolutionsofinternalforcearoundtheintersectiononrunpipe,undertheplasticlimitload,aregiven.Finally,referringtothevon-Misesyieldcriterion,theplasticlimitloadoftwointersectingcylindricalshellsisthenobtained.Theformula’ssuitabilityandfeasibilityappliedinengineeringpracticeisalsovalidatedwithfiniteelementanalysisandexperimentalresultsinthepaper.
