  • Abstract
    Thisliteraturesurveyisforheattransfertosupercriticalwaterflowinginchannels.Theobjectivesaretoassesstheworkthatwasdoneandtounderstandthespecificsofheattransferattheseconditions.Ourexhaustiveliteraturesearch,whichincludedover450papers,showedthatthemajorityofexperimentaldatawereobtainedinverticaltubes,somedatainhorizontaltubesandjustafewinotherflowgeometriesincludingbundles.Ingeneral,theexperimentsshowedthattherearethreeheattransfermodesinfluidsatsupercriticalpressures:(1)normalheattransfer,(2)deterioratedheattransferwithlowervaluesoftheheattransfercoefficient(HTC)andhencehighervaluesofwalltemperaturewithinsomepartofatestsectioncomparedtothoseofnormalheattransferand(3)improvedheattransferwithhighervaluesoftheHTCandhencelowervaluesofwalltemperaturewithinsomepartofatestsectioncomparedtothoseofnormalheattransfer.Thedeterioratedheattransferusuallyappearsathighheatfluxesandlowermassfluxes.Also,apeakinHTCnearthecriticalandpseudo-criticalpointswasrecorded.Duetothelimitednumberofpublicationsthataredevotedtoheattransferinbundlescooledwithwateratsupercriticalpressures,moreworkisdefinitelyneededtoprovidetheadditionalinformationfordesignpurposes.
