Abstract :
We calculate the chiral log corrections to the Goldberger-Treiman relation within the framework of baryon chiral perturbation theory. It is found that the parameter of deviation from the chiral limit, Δπ, is 16%, which is much larger than the experimental value 6%. The cause for this discrepancy is dominantly due to the sizeable contributions from the wave function renormalization of the nucleon and the correction of the nucleon mass. A complete renormalization program incorporating the O(p2) and O(p3) terms is needed to reconcile the discrepancy.
