This article proposes to briefly touch upon the function of the UN Secretary-General and the importance of his post, the relevant basic procedure, the recent selection process and the position of major Member States therein. The article will close by reviewing briefly and as much as possible at this early stage Ban Ki-moonיs views and initial actions that may be indicative of the way he intends to run the world Organization.
