The collapse of the Soviet Union created an opportunity for central
Asian countries to develop and expand their economic and cultural relations
with their neighbors. The Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) has some unique
advantages that make it possible to have mutual understanding and
friendship with each one of them from the early days of the Islamic
revolution. Reviving old ties between Iranians and people of Central Asia
especially those with Tajikistan that are based upon common values have
made these nations much closer.
Deepening of Iran-Tajik relations particularly in the field of energy is
not apt to the west and particularly the Ll.S. That is why there has always
been a trend to exhibit these relations as negative and a form of Persian
speaking nationיs sectarianism, so as to provoke harsh reactions from the
nations of the region. Exchange of high level delegations between the two
countries and subsequent relations in economic, cultural, educational and
political fields has ever since expanded. We have in this paper emphasized
on the cultural and economic relations.
