Th paper d scri s an investigation about the application of the new multip leimpedance
disconrinuiti model fbr optimizing profilediffuser barriers. The newmultiple-impedance
discontinuities model is much faster than th numerical method, thus it i used in an optimization
process. The A-, eighted inse rtion I 5S was used for the traffic noise sp trum .The rc ult of
optimization, which is done bysimplex downhill method, owed that th chosenmethod combined
with the appropriate cost unctio is th a fast and effective way to optimize a diffusive profiled
barrier, improving t11 performance of the barrier in the whole frequ eybandwidth of the reactive
pr fit d barriers. The optimized barrier improvestheA-weighted insertion loss fall differentlid
arrier including absorbent, quadratic residue sequence and random quence barri rs.The
introduced optimization process in this investigation is fast, clear and tl xible so that any different
rib surfac and dimensions utilized on any different יl-profile barriers can be optimized. The
parameter used to optimize is j ust simply the well depth sequence, which is easy to realize and
practical 10 design.
