اثر النمو الاقتصادي علي العمالة في الاقتصاد المصري

The objective of this paper is to measure the impact of economic growth on employment in the Egyptian economy in the short and long-run. To this end, an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to cointegration and the Unrestricted Error Correction Model (UECM) are employed using the data over the period 1982 – 2005. The results indicate that the economic growth has a weak significant positive short- and long-run effect on employment. The results also indicate that export promotion, import substitution and foreign direct investment enhance employment opportunities in the long run.
