دراسة تاثير خلاصة نبات العطرة في تقبض وريد الباب الكبدي المعزول من الارنب

Background& Objective: The relaxant effect of ethanolic extract of Pelargonium odoratissimum was studied on both spontaneous and Noradrenaline-induced contraction of isolated strips prepared from rabbit portal vein. Materials & Methods: First, the effect of the extract was examined on spontaneous contraction of longitudinal-cut portal fibers, the extract was added cumulatively to tissues baths. In another groups of experiments, the portal fibers were contracted by Noradrenaline (N.E) and then the extract was added similarly as previous. The changes in contraction were measured and recorded by isolated organ system (I.O.S). The effect of extract was evaluated and compared by the effect of Nifidepine, the standard vasodilator agent, in the same portal preparations. Results: the extract exhibited profound and strong relaxant effect on both spontaneous and N.E- induced contraction of portal preparations. Indeed, the extract potentiates the vasorelaxing effect of Nifidepine. Conclusion: Pelargonium odoratissimum has obvious relaxant effect that should further investigate to illustrate the mechanisms, with isolation of related active compound(s)
