New cobalt (II) , nickel (II) and copper (II) complexes of Schiff base and xanthato group (OCS2- ) which is derived from 4-hydroxy acridine and 3,6-diamineacridine, have been synthesized and characterized by using physical and chemical methods such as molar conductance, quantitative analysis of Co, Ni, Cu and the measurement of magnetic moments for the complexes , infrared and electronic spectroscopy. All the results can be taken as an evidence for a high spin octahedral configuration for all the complexes . It has been indicated that the two ligand (L1) and (L2) prepared as coordinated tridentate chelating ligands. During the two nitrogen atoms of the two azomethine groups and one nitrogen of acridine for L1, also during the two sulphur atoms of the xanthato group and one nitrogen of acridine for L2, (where L1= N,Ndibenzylideneacridine- 3,6-diamine and L2 = Potassium o-acridine-4-yl carbonothioate ).Accordingly, general formulas [M(L1)(L2)] Cl , [M(L1)2] Cl2 and [M(L2)2] Cl2 have been suggested for the complexes
