There is no clear -cut demarcation between syntaxand morphology, thus it is not easy to differentiate betweenthem. Moreover , in Generative linguistics , syntax andmorphology are not regarded as two separate levels oflanguage , which adds to this problematic area .This research paper investigates the similarities anddifferences between syntax and morphology on the one handand compares between the two in English and Arabic , bothof which are inflecting languages ( also called synthetic orfusional).The interrelation between syntax and morphologycould be detected through the term agreement whichsubsumes both concord and government . Yet, it is stillcontroversial whether or not it is the word or morphemethat provides the dividing line between the two notions .Section one provides a historical survey . Sectiontwo deals with the interrelation and boundary between syntaxand morphology in English and Arabic . Section three detectsthe complexity of demarcation between the two levels oflanguage in English and Arabic. Section four attempts todistinguish between the two levels . The research work endswith the reached conclusions , followed by the bibliography
