This paper examines Shakespeare s Prospero s and Marlowe s Tamburlaine s colonial strategies used to eradicate the culture of the colonized people and impose a new colonialist culture instead. The primitive culture of the native people and their ignorance and illiteracy has always been utilized by colonizers to justify their inhumane practices exercised in the colonies. Education including literacy, books and language are the means used by Shakespeare in the Tempest and Christopher Marlowe in Tamburlaine, the Great to impose new cultures though in opposite direction as in Prospero s introduction of education to Caliban to secure a better way of living; whereas Tamburlaine burn the scientific and philosophical books including the Holy Koran to impose a new backward culture to serve his interest in ruling the colonized kingdoms of the east..
