The effect of paragraph characteristics and the level of individuals' ability to assume positional independence in the paragraph response theory

The current study aimed to investigate the effect of paragraph characteristics and the level of individuals' ability to assume positional independence. To achieve the goal of the study, responses of (1000) individuals were generated on (100) items, and analyzed using the two-parameter logistic model to find the features of the paragraphs and the ability of individuals. The results of the study showed that the percentage of pairs of paragraphs violating the assumption of positional independence was the highest in the case of the first model (difficult paragraphs and high discrimination) at the level of high ability and the lowest at the level of low ability, and the results also indicated that the percentage of pairs of paragraphs violating the assumption of positional independence was increased with an increase in the level of The ability in the first model, while it was reduced in the fourth model (easy paragraphs and low discrimination). In general, the results showed that the characteristics of the paragraph and the ability level of individuals had an impact on the assumption of positional independence, and that the discrimination of the paragraph had a greater role in influencing it than the difficulty of the paragraph, through testing the significance of the statistical differences between the ratios of pairs of paragraphs that violate the assumption of positional independence according to the ability level of individuals and a model the test.
