Surface appearance is one of the most important trait in automotive coating, which is described by color and geometric attributes such as orange peel. In this article, the effect of base coat/clear coat thickness on orange peel is examined in recoating system. The obtained result indicated that enhancement of orange peel value is due to increase in the thickness of basecoat which when it is more than 30 µm, increase in thickness of clear coat leads to reduce orange peel value.
