Biotechnology is a key Biotechnology for the economic development of the next millennium and protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs) is at the core of the business for biotechnology frims. The study of biology was transformed by the discovery in 1953 of the structure of structure of DNA, which is the genetic metarial of living organisms. Since then, scientists have made considerable advances in understanding how DNA works, and how differences in DNA lead to differences between people. Nevertheless, the debate on what, how, and when biotechnological inventional can be protected by legal means is still going on.
