Construction of social identity: A Critical Discourse Analysis

The discourse analyst comes across with certain signs in poletical speech which ends to social construction of reality. This article presents the role of discourse on socially situated identities rooted in Critical Linguistics, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) that has become an independent field in linguistics. The data are from the official telegram news channel which is an online community of news broadcast. Adopting the CDA framework by Fairclaugh (2003) Within this context the President’s speech is analysed. The discussion centers on the social identity that the lecturere tries to make as influensive as possible. How does the social identity building up the rhetorical effects? The question is addressed with reference to textually oriented discourse analysis which sought to highlight the interconnected role of discourse in displaying the social identity
