The purpose of this study is comparison methods for determining hydraulic flow units and to evaluate the quality of the reservoir. The studied well (SP_a) is located in South Pars gas field in Iran. This study relates to the four reservoir zones K1, K2, K3 and K4 in the Kangan and the upper Dalan Formations with the Middle Permian to the lower Triassic age. In this research, well logging data and petrophysic, Geolog and Excel softwares have been used. Various methods have been used to determine hydraulic flow units. Among the existing methods, the Lorenz methods and FZI cumulative histogram were preferred to other methods. By applying methods on the data obtained from Kangan reservoir and upper Dalan, six, eight, four, and eleven flow units were identified respectively for four reservoir zones of K1, K2, K3 and K4. This investigation showed that well (SP_a) in a depth interval between 2860-3287 meters have a total of twenty-nine hydraulic flow units. Based on our calculations and interpretation of well logging data, reservoir zones of K4 and K2 have higher reservoir quality than reservoir zones of K3 and K1. The study of the production process from this well shows that determination number of hydraulic flow units in the reservoir zones of this well with the methods performed in this project can help to prevent the production of water in the beneficiary zones.
