According to the proposed flowchart, the present paper is an attempt to provide a new method for detection of high impedance fault based on current signal processing, which improves fault detection in distance relays. In this method, extraction of DC components of the fault current signal and analysis of them by a relay, as well as consideration of the amount of initial DC Mutation in the event of a high impedance fault, which is the difference between fault and nominal load conditions, Relay can be used in block or operation conditions. In the present paper, a sample power grid is simulated using the Matlab-Simulink software. In this simulation, the single-phase and three-phase Arc fault model proposed by N.Zamanan is used for high-Voltage transmission lines. The results of this simulation show the distinction between normal working conditions, low impedance faults, and high impedance faults. The advantages of this method include accurate and fast detection of high impedance fault.
