A review on energy related factors in traditional buildings

Nowadays traditional buildings are under significant consideration to meet sustainability objectives. These issues fundamentally relate to the energy conservation and the efficiency of buildings. For older buildings which are more capable of adaptation, the most important point is how to achieve sustainability without damaging the intrinsic architectural or historic character and significance of a building. In this paper the principles and factors of energy efficiency which can be applied in the adaptation and conversation of historic buildings will be considered. The fact is that Historic buildings can be assumed as good examples of sustainability and also can be or adapted to be energy efficient constructions. This can be reached in the way of using techniques and methods that newly constructed buildings use, for meeting sustainability objectives. So achieving sustainable energy targets that have been adopted to historic buildings, is a new challenge that can be reached by various developed technologies and different design solutions.
