در طراحي مسير سيستم هاي انبوه بر حمل و نقل همگاني معمولاً ديدگاه هاي مبتني بر سرعت و حركت حاكم است در حاليكه در نظريه توسعه پايدار شهري، بيشترين تأكيد بر اصل دسترسي است. اين مطالعه با مبنا قرار دادن اصل دسترسي در مقابل سرعت و حركت و توجه ويژه به خصوصيات جغرافيايي مناطق شهري از جمله مراكز عمده سكونت و اشتغال و فرم هندسي شبكه خياباني و با به كارگيري الگوريتم كلوني مورچگان روشي را جهت طراحي مسير خطوط انبوه بر حمل و نقل همگاني توسعه داده است. هدف از تحقيق، توسعه روشي براي طراحي مسير با افزايش حداكثري سطح پوشش و كاهش فاصله نواحي شهري به استخوان بندي سيستم حمل و نقل همگاني است. همچنين روش توسعه داده شده در شرايط شهر مشهد به كار گرفته شده و مسيرهاي اصلاحي سيستم هاي انبوه بر حمل و نقل همگاني تعيين گرديده و با مسيرهاي مصوب فعلي مقايسه شده اند. نتيجه تحقيق حاكي از افزايش سطح پوشش و كاهش درصد همپوشاني خطوط مي باشد. داده هاي مورد نياز به روش مطالعه اسنادي و از بانك اطلاعات مطالعات جامع حمل و نقل مشهد استخراج شده است. نتيجه اين تحقيق مزاياي به كارگيري اصول توسعه پايدار در طراحي سيستم هاي حمل و نقل همگاني را نشان مي دهد.
