Nanocomposites from polymers and nanoparticles have high potential to be
used for food packaging purposes due to their enhanced barrier and
mechanical properties. According to this goal, in this research, nanocomposite
films based on poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and nano titanium dioxide
(size = 20 nm, (0.5 and 1 wt.%)) were prepared using casting technique. X-ray
diffraction (XRD) test confirms the completely exfoliated structure formed in
the Tio2 nanocomposites. Mechanical properties (Tensile strength, Young
Modulus) increased when add 0.5, and 1 wt% Tio2 compare with pure PVA
film. The water vapor permeability (WVP) decreases by incorporating of low
concentration TiO2 to PVA solution.
