Shearography is an approved and powerful tool that is suitable for nondestructive inspection. In this paper, stroboscopic shearography and PZT excitation network are proposed for nondestructive evaluation of a large area object. For this purpose, a bi-concave lens was embedded in the front of Michelson interferometer to overcome the limitation of the Michelson angle of view. Vibration loading is the most appropriate stressing method where an in-situ inspection for a large structure is required. A thin, light PZT patch was attached to the back side of the aluminum specimen to generate vibration in the structure. The attached PZT patch was excited with various frequencies using a function generator and a voltage amplifier. The experiment was successfully carried out on a large area aluminum plate including a large wallthinning. The anomaly in the shearography fringe pattern reveals and localizes the wall-thinning over a wide vibration frequency range.
