This paper deals with the control of single phase voltage source inverter to reduce conductive electromagnetic interference (EMI) by improved chaotic sinusoidal PWM (CSPWM) method. Improvement in conventional CSPWM is obtain by tuning the parameters to maximize certain index, based on analysis of power spectrum density. First, CSPWM principle and its ability to conducted EMI reduction comparing to traditional SPWM is investigated in detail. Result shows that EMI emissions will be more eliminated if voltage spectrum become more flatter. Then spectral flatness factor is used for performance improvement. It is proved that this factor is good for prediction of conducted EMI level. Based on spectral flatness factor, the parameters are tuned and a new CSPWM is proposed. Simulation results, by using Matlab software, show the effectiveness of EMI reduction compare to the conventional CSPWM in low frequency bands
