In this study an interface element has been developed that combines the damage and friction of cohesive zone.
The coulomb friction model has been used in the present formulation. Combintion of damage and friction is based on the assumption that the damaged area corresponds to an integration point, can be decomposed into the un-cracked area with the cohesive damage and cracked area with friction. Damage has been assumed in the friction poteintial function to reduce convergence difficulties associated with the transition from un-cracked area to cracked area. Samples of one element model has been presented to see the effect of friction coefficient and compression stress on cohesive constitutive law.
