Nano porous metals with nano porosity because of a very high specific surface area of them, low
density and good catalytic activity have unique chemical, physical and mechanical properties. Due
to these advantages they can be used as an electrocatalyst in several reactions. In this work we used
them for investigation of hydrogen evolution reaction.
During that, at first we deposited Cu and Cu-Zn by electrochemical method and investigated by
scanning electron microscopy. After that we used mentioned electrodes as cathode in hydrogen
evolution reaction and compared with each other by linear sweep voltammetry and
chronoamperometry. Results showed that electrochemical performance of porous Cu-Zn electrode
is better than porous Cu. Also porous Cu showed porosity has an important effect on
electrochemical properties of metals.
