In this paper, we introduce a novel three–dimensional fractional–order chaotic system with a single cubic nonlinearity. Stability analysis of the fractional–order system is studied using the fractional Routh–Hurwitz criteria. The nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) scheme is implemented to study the dynamic behaviors in the novel fractional–order chaotic system. The lowest order for the system to remain chaotic is found via numerical simulation.
