Metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have shown their great interest in variety fields due to their unique physical and chemical properties differing from bulk. Among all the metal oxides, cobalt oxide has attracted more attention due to its unique properties. In this study, Natural polymer like starch was employed for preparation of cobalt oxide nanoparticles. Th e nanoparticles were characterized by IR, XRD and SEM. Th e XRD spectra confirmed the formation of Co3O4-NPs with cubic structure. Th e broadening of the peaks in XRD pattern indicates that the crystallite sizes are below 100 nm is confirmed by SEM images. We successfully synthesized nano cobalt oxides by facile, useful and inexpensive method in starch media. One of the adventages of utilizing the starch is the growth controling of particles.
