Music History in Iran، Case Study Sasanid Era (224 to 651 A.D.) Based on archaeological and historical evidence

During the 427 years the Sasanid dynasty ruled over Iran، in spite of all of the ups and downs، they tried to provide a suitable ground for advance and evolution of science، literature and art of Iran. Among these concepts، the art of music played an important role in this field، and in this study we investigate the music of Sasanid dynasty. In terms of methodology، this is a descriptive-analytic research which is conducted through using available resources and researches. Information collection in this article was conducted through the secondary method and it attempts to investigate the significance of music in Sasanid dynasty، particularly the Sasanid kings’ courts. Throughout the article، it will be shown that music were of tremendous significance in the Sasanid court and were enormously supported by the Sasanid kings، which all these has led to the more efflorescence of art of music in this era، although، the significance of music were not only limited to courts and kings، but it also reflected in different levels of the society.
