Preliminary report on new finding of dasycladales green algae from the Paleocene of Kopet Dagh (Iran)

An algal rich horizon has been discovered in the upper part of Chehel Kaman Formation. The algae belong mostly to dasycladalean green algae. The specimens recorded can be assigned mainly to Cymopolia sp., but occasionally Indopolia parvula Wang, Uteria merienda (Elliott), Cymopolia cf. tibetica Morellet Morellet, Acicularia sp., Neomeris sp., and two species of Jodotella occur. The taxa, still under study, can be referred to genera well known in the Paleocene.
