Earlier we have suggested the method of obtaining zeolites of Dachiardite and Ferrierite type in the form
Na,Mg from various kinds of Perlite and Antigorite mixtures. In this work there has been shown the
possibility of obtaining zeolite of a Mordenite type in Na,Mg form. The synthesis of this zeolite has been
carried out by the method of hydrothermal processing of a hard mass, consisting obsidian and decationized
metastable Antigorite (DMA) at the temperatures 170ºC. This silicate has been obtained by the acid
processing of Antigorite – Mg3 [Si2O5].4H2O with the further thermal processing on the border of
transmission of Antigorite → Forsterite (Mg2SiO4). The obtained reaction masses at the presence of NaOH
are characterized by the following ratio of the components: Na2O/Al2O3 = 3.8 - 4.9; MgO/Al2O3 = 2.5 - 3.5;
SiO2/Al2O3 = 12.5 - 14.8; H2O/Al2O3 = 80 - 95. It has been established the product of hydrothermal
crystallization of these reaction masses is zeolite of a Mordenite type in Na,Mg form. The chemical
composition of the obtained Mordenite has been determined, which is expressed by the following chemical
formula: Na0.84Mg0.58 [(AlO2)2(SiO2)11.8].8.1H2O
