Impure hydrogen as a by-product is produced in the olefin plants. This product can be burned as the fuel in furnaces or after purification process, can be sent as feed to the polymeric units. Generally, the use of hydrogen in the polymeric units can be as polymer molecular weight control agent, increasing or decreasing the polymerization pressure and under certain conditions, as closing or additive agent of side chains. In this study, for stabilization and continuation status in production of polymeric units at shut down times of olefin plant (producer of pure hydrogen), the necessity of hydrogen storage unit under different conditions, was evaluated. Thus, the simulation of hydrogen storage unit of Arak petrochemical complex was executed by HYSYS engineering software. After controlling the simulation results and actual data from industry, it was tried to create a generalized storage unit in accordance with the conditions in Amirkabir Petrochemical Complex in Mahshahr city. For this purpose, by making changes in the cooling system of each stage of a compressor, a hydrogen storage package, according to regional climatic conditions were presented.
