In the past decade, much effort has been devoted to the synthesis and application of transition metal sulfide structures due to their excellent electronic, optical and mechanical properties. Among these materials, cobalt sulfide compounds are especially important because their chemical bonds Co–S have several forces and binding mechanisms that can form ionic bonds, covalent bonds and metallic bonds which are bound in a molecule [10-17].CoS2 is an important half-metallic material and has fundamentalphysics in spintronics and potential applications in spin-electronicdevices due to their open bands containing electrons with asingle spin state [1]. So far, various synthesis methods including hydrothermal/solvothermal routes, electrochemical syntheses, wet-chemical methods, colloidal syntheses and catalytic chemical vapor deposition have been successfully applied in syntheses of cobalt sulfide nanostructures [18-24]. In this work, we developed a moderate solvothermal process to produce cobalt disulfide (CoS2) nanoparticles using cobalt chloride, hexahydrate and Sodium hypodisulfite as precursors. The structural properties of CoS2 nanoparticles were investigated. Preparation of CoS2 due to solvothermal method at low temperature and low pressure has been discussed in this article.
