—An Artificial Neural Network based fault location algorithm for distribution feeders is presented in this paper. The principle of algorithm is quite simple and it use only phasor of voltage and current measured at the substation, but it can estimate the location of fault with very good resolution. First phasor of voltage and current will be calculated and then according the type of fault, the trained ANN estimates the fault location. According to the different types of fault, 3 different ANN’s will be used for fault location estimation. The simulations were done on IEEE 34 feeder test system and the results show that ANN’s can estimate the fault location with a good resolution for a wide range of fault resistance.
