—With increasing demand of available bandwidth,
the need for multiband antennas has become an ever growing
challenge for antenna designers over the past decades. This trend
has also become critical in antenna arrays which are mainly used
in radar applications. But not so much effort is made until now.
Fractals can be one the best solution to this problem. Selfsimilarity
of fractals allows the antennas (arrays) to be compact
and multiband. In this paper, we have proposed a multiband
circular fractal antenna array (MCFAA). Then, we have
optimized the designed structure for maximum directivity using
Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. A comparison is also
included. The results show that analytical formulas for fractal
arrays are not only super-fast, but also completely precise despite
of their simple
