— In this paper, a method for high accuracy passive localization is presented using the direct position determination (DPD). A simple two-channel ESM receiver on a moving platform is assumed. Traditional localization methods was based on estimation of an intermediate parameter, and the intersection of this parameter results the sources location. DPD removes this step and determines the sources position by a single step processing. A large baseline two-element array receiver (like an interferometer) can produce the accurate measurements for precise localization. But in traditional two-step methods the large number of ambiguous directions must be resolved before second processing step, that needs to large number of intermediate elements. Using DPD algorithm, this ambiguity resolution and position determination can be performed in a common processing step. Simulation results show that this approach ca achive high accuracy localization performance with moderate SNR and number of sample, based on a simple ESM receiver architecture
