Improvement of bending polymeric composite (PP/EPDM) by natural fibers In this research work, the effect of natural fibers such as date palm and jute fibers on bending properties of polypropylene (PP)/ ethylene–propylene–diene–monomer (EPDM) thermoplastic elastomers are investigated. For this purpose, the date palm and jute fibers reinforced PP/ EPDM are manufactured using a twin screw extruder and injection molding machine. Compatibilizer maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) is used to increase the interfacial adhesion between the composite constituents. Both the date palm and jute fibers at five levels of fiber weight fractions (0, 5, 10, 20 and 30 wt.%) are utilized during composite fabrication. Results showed that the incorporation of both fibers increased the bending strength and bending’s modulus of PP/EPDM matrix, but reduced the elongation at break. More detailed results and discussion are presented in full length paper.
