Carbon fibers are materials with specific properties such as high tensile strength and elastic modulus, low density, high fatigue strength, low thermal expansion coefficient, and high thermal stability. Due to these properties, carbon fibers are applied as reinforcement in composite materials in many fields such as aerospace, sporting, construction, oil and chemical industries. In this article, the effect of strain rate on tensile properties of carbon fibers was investigated. The tensile properties of carbon fibers were impregnated with epoxy bisphenol F resin and a diamine hardener in the ratio of 100:15 by resin impregnated fibers tow method were studied. The results showed that the breaking load of specimens is increased with increasing in strain rate. According to the results, the tensile strength of carbon fibers are increased from 3105 to 3982 MPa with increasing in strain rate from 5 to 60 mm/min. Detailed results and discussion are presented in full length paper.
