Shadow moiré is a reliable, non-destructive and contactless optical measurement method that is used to determine surface topography and out of plane displacements in mechanical components. In this study out of plane displacements of a flat V-notched specimen under tensile load will be obtained by the use of phase-shifting shadow moiré technique. The test specimen is thermoplastic polyether grade polyurethane which is a ductile polymer with considerable elastic behavior in medium loads. A set of phase-shifting shadow moiré experiments will be conducted on the specimen and fringe patterns will be captured. Out of plane displacement field then will be estimated from recorded images by the image processing techniques and finally experimental results will be compared with FEA results. It has been shown there is a good agreement between experimental and FEA results.
