Usually damage due to cyclic loading is quantified in structures by using well-known Wohler S-N curves which are produced under constant amplitude loading and a suitable procedure to account for mean stress effects. While structures during their service life experience loading with variable amplitudes. Cycle counting approaches are used to transfer the variable amplitude loading to constant amplitude loading blocks. Then linear or nonlinear Miner’s rule are employed to take into account for damage accumulation and fatigue life prediction. In the current manuscript, two types of load counting techniques as a) rain flow cycle counting and b) statistical method in the frequency domain are employed to produce constant amplitude loading. Developed method is applied to predict the fatigue life of a lug assembly under service loading.
