In this research, the effect of various parameters for reduction in forming load in cold forward extrusion of aluminum has been investigated. The applied numerical method in this paper, that is based on finite element method to minimize the extrusion load and stresses at the tools-workpiece interface. The effect of geometry of die, friction factor, length of billet and work hardening has been studied by using ANSYS software. Validity of results has been ensured by comparison with available experimental measurements. It is shown that there are good conformation between the results. The obtained results illustrate that the extrusion load increases with increase in length of billet and friction factor. It is shown that the hardening phenomenon may has significant effect on magnitude of strain.
