Slurry in mills plays a major role in the transport of ore particles beside decreases the grinding efficiency through the reduction of the impact load. Therefore, the main focus in this research is the investigation of the effect of slurry on the impact load and damping energy. To get this aim, a drop weight test along with a impact load cell has been used. Slurry used in the experiments is copper slurry and the slurry concentration is about 60% solid which is taken from the SAG mill of Sarcheshme copper complex and the height of the slurry is a variation from 12 to 24 cm. In this research, the effect of ball height on impact condition with constant slurry height has been investigated experimentally. For experimental limitations and more investigation of effective parameters by simulation method, the derived results from simulation have been validated using experimental data. Results show that increasing the input speed to slurry increases the value impact load and also reduces damping energy. It was also found that, there exists an exponential trend between damping energy and slurry height and input speed.
